Where marine ecology meets music: the “Tipping point” science-art project

Forcing the Impossible is a research project combining science and art, where cutting-edge researchers at Åbo Akademi University meet different artists. The scientists get to practise communicating about their research outside the scientific community, while the artists interpret and illustrate what they hear, using their respective media.

One such collaboration is “Tipping point”, a year-long collaboration between esteemed composer Ulf Långbacka and marine biologist Anna Törnroos-Remes, who leads the benthic-pelagic coupling work in ECOTIP. Watch this video to find out more about the collaboration.

“Tipping point” and other scientific-artistic collaborations were presented during Forskarnatten, the European Researchers’ Night event, which took place in the Turku cathedral, and also at Lilla Fabbes and the Sibelius museum on September 24, 2021.
